Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico; January 10, 1993), better known by his stage name Rauw Alejandro, is a Puerto Rican singer and songwriter. He was born in San Juan, and lived in Canovanas and Carolina. Like him, his parents are also artists, who influenced him fr om singers like Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson. His father is Raúl Ocasio, a guitarist; and his mother is María Nelly Ruiz, a showgirl. For several years he lived in the United States, wh ere he was influenced by the R&B and dancehall genres. He participated in school talent contests, and from the age of six to twenty he played baseball. However, he failed to perform as he wanted in him, and had a small depression. In 2014 he began publishing his musical projects on Soundcloud.
