Amir Talai (born June 24, 1977, in San Francisco) is an American actor, singer, voice actor, and writer. He is known for his many diverse roles in musicals, films, and television series. Talai was born and raised in San Francisco. He was the first child of Iranian immigrants Mohammad and Sima Talai. He was raised in a Muslim family. Talai attended a French immersion school until the eighth grade and then transferred to Lowell High School. He graduated from the University of California. Talai lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Nina Manni, whom he married in 2011. Talai began working in San Francisco but later moved to Los Angeles, where he joined the Groundlings Sunday Company. Talai has worked on more than 125 films, television series, or voice-over projects. Talai has written about portrayals of people from the Middle East for Vulture and BuzzFeed News. In these articles, he criticized, among other things, the fact that actors from the Middle East are rarely hired for stage productions that do not address terrorism or Islam.
